One last project before Joe left was to change the oil and fuel filter on our truck. Check out the sexy leg hanging out from under the truck. We will be in Yuma til the day after Memorial day, then we will head for Travis AFB where we will spend the summer with our family and friends.

One sunny day, we decided to finish laying the bricks in front of our wall. We had put off this project for quite a while. Oh yea, I was also working on this, but someone has to take the pictures. It looks really nice and a thank you to brother Joe for all his work.

I signed us all up for a casino run to Laughlin, Nevada. $15 each with one free buffet. A 4 hour trip via bus leaving at 7am, arriving 11:30am and return trip arriving around midnight. We did the buffet, then our friend Margaret from Bullhead City, AZ joined us and away we went in her car to Oatman, AZ. An old mining town on old Route 66; now a tourist destination with lots of shops. The miners just left their burros loose when the mining dried up. The burros are a main attraction now. You can buy carrots to feed them or bring your own. A very interesting place. We had time to eat dinner at Del Taco, then 45 minutes to gamble, then back on the bus for the ride home.

We went on a 1 1/2 hour hike on the Painted Desert Trail located about 20 miles from our house. The trail was a great hike with the many different colors and rocks in the desert. Our brother Mike, in the red, flew in from Vallejo, CA to visit for 4 days. He had not seen Joe for about 14 years. I had not seen Joe for 1 1/2 years. It was great to have all three of us together. We have a sister and brother left, with 2 brothers having passed away.

We took Joe down to Los Algodones, Mexico to have some major dental work done. Dr Raul Haro is our dentist. He is the best dentist I have ever been to. He does a thorough evaluation and does the best for you.
The Plaza is where they do all kind of pictures with spray cans of paint. It is amazing how the end pictures looks like.
Then off to stand in line to get back across the border. This time of year the line is short. During the winter season you may have to wait as much as 2-3 hours.

Lute's Casino, Yuma

My brother Joe came from Pensacola, Florida for 2 1/2 weeks. We had lunch at Lute's Casino in the Historical section of Yuma. Their special is a hamburger with a hot dog split in half on it. Different. He is not really in jail; they have bars across the front of the entrance.

Dorothy is involved with a Red Hat group which she started since other groups were full. They get together 2 times a month and head for lunch and shopping. L to R are Elaine, Vickie, Dorothy, Judy and Janet.

Key West

We took the 3 1/2 hour ride on the ferry to Key West. We were pretty far off the land so no scenery on the trip down. We stayed on Duval Street for 2 days. We had lunch in Jimmy Buffet's Margarita Ville. Food not too good. We went to Mallory Square to see the sunset and the street performers. We toured the Key West Whitehouse made famous by Truman. Many other Presidents also stayed there and still do. We finished our trip with lunch at Bo's eating his famous fish sandwich. Back to Fort Meyers where Dorothy show Sis how to bead and bead and bead. We had a great visit and look forward to them visiting us in Yuma next year.

Off to Florida for three Weeks in March

We flew to Fort Meyers, Florida to visit with my sister Georgianna and her husband Lou. She works at a retirement home. We went to lunch at Famous Daves with some of he residents. Great Group. Another night we went to dinner with her friends George and Lila. Sorry, we did not get a picture of George. Great Couple!

Sunsets and Flowers in Yuma

In February we departed San Diego on Carnival Cruise Ship Elation heading for Cabo San Lucas. It was a four day cruise with about 40 couples from our RV Boomer's Group. Richard and Janet also went. It was a great trip and our second time on the Elation. We only went ashore in Cabo for around 4 hours. We have added a picture of us from the formal night.

The storage shed is finally almost completed with the paint job finished. We have moved a lot of our stuff into it already. It will be really nice when we leave this year not having to put everything inside the house. Still have to do the electricity. On an exempt shed they only let you do one plug, one light switch, one light and one outside light.

The walls are being raised on the Shed. We managed to finish the shed to where we could lock it before we headed to California for Christmas. Dorothy, Gordon and I all applied the caulk and primer coat on the outside.
